Wizard of Oz Comes to Star Theater

Wizard of Oz opens at the Historic Star Theater this August! The Wizard of Oz is historically a sell-out show and one of the largest productions done at the Theater.

The work for the show began back in December and will be opening on August 8th.   Cast members have put in countless hours into rehearsing songs, choreography and learning lines to make this show a hit!  I was in awe at the amount of time and effort that goes into each production.  Not only that, but every actor and director at The Star is a volunteer.

Marisa talked about how she fell in love with The Star Theater family when her and her family joined in two years ago.  Marisa and her family have participated in five productions and she said, “I love what being a part of the local theater is teaching my children.”   She went on to say that “they are learning what it means to be committed to something and be a part of a team.”

She spoke about how the productions that her and her family has participated in have exposed her children to great literature and art and helped foster their already passionate love of reading.   More importantly Marisa shared that being part of the volunteer theater is showing her children just how important and fulfilling it is to be a part of your community.

I was touched to learn that their prayer before every opening night is that their hard work and efforts would bless and inspire their friends and neighbors who come to see the show.    After speaking with Marisa and others that participate in The Star Theater’s productions, I was amazed at everyone’s dedication.

Marisa said “it’s fantastically unique for a county of our size to have a vibrant arts community with such dedicated and gifted people participating,” and I have to agree.  My family and I love seeing the shows performed at The Star and can’t wait to be standing in line to see the upcoming Wizard of Oz production.   Whether you are a local resident or vacationing on Lake Cumberland you won’t want to miss this show!
