Said StriperFun Guide Service owner, Captain Jim Durham:

“We are so excited to see the big fish showing up again at Lake Cumberland.  With the repair work that was done on the dam, the Corp of Engineers had to release a record amount of water out of the lake to lower the lake and keep it at a low lever to effect the repairs. As a deep highland reservoir, Lake Cumberland maintains a coldwater “sluice” (an area of coldwater) that is normally between 35 to 90 feet deep. This sluice retains lots of oxygen needed for the big predator fish.

When the lake was lowered the huge fish were hard to find!

Since the Corp of Engineers has been finished for a number of months with the repairs and the lake has been back up to near summer pool for a while, we are once again catching these huge fish and all the fish we are catching are very fat and healthy!
