Ready, Set, Wear It Kentucky A Great Success At Conley Bottom

The latest Ready, Set, Wear it Kentucky boater and lifejacket safety event held at Conley Bottom Resort & Marina was a educational and informative day with fun for kids and adults alike! Conley Bottom Marina hosted the event for the 7th consecutive year according to marina owner Charlie Denney, and the day at Lake Cumberland couldn’t have been more beautiful. Multiple states and communities participate in the international program to promote safe boating and the use of lifejackets/floatation devices as directed by the National Safe Boating Council. Zach Williams from KY Fish and Wildlife was on hand to spearhead the event at Lake Cumberland and attempt to assemble enough community members to break the world record for patrons wearing lifejackets! Even the resident dock canine, Digger the Dog, was suited up in his personal lifejacket! Conley Bottom Resort & Marina, along with McDonald’s of Monticello, sponsored the event and provided entertainment and door prizes! Also on hand was the original Ronald McDonald to entertain and have fun with the youngsters in attendance.  Randy Baird, owner of the Monticello McDonald’s, stated they were “very happy to participate in these types of community events. Being boaters ourselves, we always try to practice boater safety because accidents can occur. We fully support events like this that further educate on safety procedures for the visitors of Lake Cumberland”. Also on hand at the event to help promote good safety practices were the US Coast Guard and the Army Corp of Engineers which both had informational brochures and items to give away.  The US Coastguard was also offering vessel safety inspections that day. Freddy Piercy, the manager at Conley Bottom Marina, wanted to thank all who participated and attended the event at Lake Cumberland. Mr. Piercy stated “everyone at Conley Bottom is looking forward to fun and safe season this year, and of course that starts with always being prepared with the proper safety gear and knowing how to use it correctly. We are pleased to be able to educate and make a positive impact on the lake community”.
