Picnic Shelters

There is currently a firewood quarantine. To protect our forest NO FIREWOOD transported from out of state is allowed. This is to stop the transportation of the Asian longhorn beetle and the Sirex woodwasp. Once transported, both insects can kill local trees.

    The Corps of Engineers manages several picnic areas on Lake Cumberland.  Within the picnic areas, group picnic shelters are available for reservation during your desired stay.  All shelters have a large charcoal grill available for use with electric and water available at Kendall and Cumberland Point shelters.  It is recommended that you call early for reservations at Kendall’s shelter because of the high demand.To reserve one of the shelters above, please click on the name of a recreation area or call the National Recreation Reservation Service toll free at 1-877-444-6777.
  • Fall Creek Recreation Area and Mill Springs MillPicnic Shelters at Fall Creek and Mill Springs can be reserved by calling the Natural Resource Management Office at 606-679-6337.   Mill Springs is a popular place to hold outdoor weddings and must be reserved for this purpose due to it’s popularity and heavy visitation.A $50.00 reservation fee is charged for the reservation of a picnic shelter.  When a shelter is not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  During the summer and holiday weekends it is recommended that visitors carpool as much as possible since parking places are limited.  We hope that your group has a safe and enjoyable stay with us at one of our shelters.
