Kentucky State Parks launches military discount program

The Kentucky State Parks System announced it will offer lodging discounts at its parks across the state for active and former members of the U.S. military starting next month.

The state parks system's "USA Military Discount" program begins on Saturday, Nov. 1, and will last until Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

In addition to active service members and veterans, members of the National Guard and reservists are eligible for the discount with proof of military service, according to a news release.

Under the program, lodge rooms are $44.95 a night; one-bedroom cottages are $74.95 a night; two-bedroom cottages are $84.95 a night; and three-bedroom cottages are $94.95 per night, according to the news release. Tax is not included.

The rates will be applied at 11 of the state's resort parks in addition to the cottages at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson, according to the news release.

Those rates will be increased by $5 at Barren River, Cumberland Falls, Kentucky Dam Village, Lake Barkley, Lake Cumberland and Natural Bridge state parks, according to the news release.

The discount cannot be combined with other special offers or discounts offered by the parks system.

Starting in April, military members will be eligible for a 10 percent discount on lodging and camping.

The Kentucky State Parks System operates 17 resorts that offer amenities such as golf, fishing and hiking, according to the news release.
