Soundings Magazine complete guide to winterizing
Seemed date appropriate!
For boaters who live in colder climates but aren't making the trip down the ICW to a warm destination, it's time to get going with
decommissioning.
Proper winterizing is much more than taking the cooler, PFDs and fishing gear off the boat. Taking the time now to decommission the right way -
engine, batteries, sails and systems - can save you a big headache come spring.
Plus, putting her to bed properly in the fall means you'll be on the water faster next season.
We asked several of our technical experts to weigh in on decommissioning done right. Read on for a general overview, then click the links on the right
for practical tips on how to winterize specific systems.

Great post, MarineAssist.
The only thing it didn't discuss is removing the soda cans from storage bins.
Thanks.

Printing them all now...good stuff. I do most but good to have a check list.
I like all boats I see and some people I meet!

That's good list and handy to remind boaters what to do. Old-timers generally have a "pattern" or "technique" that they follow but there is
always the opportunity to forget that one thing.
Another thing that they don't mention -but I know that quite q few houseboaters always do- is to leave several dryer sheets laying throughout the
cabin area. They absorb a lot of odors and leave the cabin smelling very nice when it's time to "open up" in the Spring. They also worked well
below-decks --especially around the sanitation systems.
