6-8 inches of snow here in Cynthiana so far. Ice pellets starting to fall as I type this @ 9:40 am est.
Squak I know how much snow weighs. I had a constant vigil, starting @ 3am, this morning keeping an eye on the temporary tarp canopy covering my
houseboat. I have to go out and knock off the accumulation every few hours or the weight will collapse the structure.

You are absolutely correct on the description of the sound. I have quit looking out upon hearing it. I will just wait until it's over and then make
an assesment, make a plan, and call someone else to clean it up!

With daylight, the steady rain is still coming down here in Russell Springs, and the quarter inch of ice is maintaining itself, but not growing on
trees on this side of the lake. I can tell from the woodland behind the office with tall trees there's not that much stress on them. It looks like --
at present -- those with lake area cabins, etc, don't have much to fret about.

One thing to be concerned about ... and not with this weather system ... is the serious cold snap last week. Yesterday we discovered a vacant home had
a water line break in an unheated work area, and it had been spewing for some time. All the floors were flooded and water was actually running out the
front door.
If you have a home that is vacant during the serious cold weather, it may be a good idea to check it out.

Pac, I assume that since Relax said Cave Springs, that means the marina has no power. Not a good thing.

If the picture on the home page is indicative of what Cave Springs has, I am not surprised if they don't have electric.

At 11AM it is 39 degrees here at Otter Creek. The rain and warmer temps have melted all the ice on the trees, power lines and local roads.

Beaches and Pac22 we will be going down this afternoon to spend the night in the house. Give me a call if you want us to check out our boat.

Uhhhhh.... its currently 28 deg outside and raining in Lexington. Not good. Starting to stick to the trees some and they are getting heavier by the
hour.
After 5:30 PM or so (darkness) the temps will drop at least another 5 - 10 degrees.
IF the rain has not stopped by then....well.......I may not be posting for a while.
I'll miss you guys.
If you take life too seriously...your going to get a real hoot out of being dead.

Remember this?
Perhaps a terrible thread to bring back up (as it will bring back some bad memories for a lot of us) but it should just remind us to enjoy every one
of these nice days that we have left this season.

Cap'n Bob; excellent reminder. While Pogo's pictures look nice, I will always prefer to see them in a book compared to in=person.
