Balancing logging, recreation key issue in Daniel Boone National Forest

With the upper Lake Cumberland region, and much of the Big South Fork section of the lake in the scenic Daniel Boone National Forest, the following article from the Monday, May 5, 2003 issue of the Louisville Courier-Journal is of interest.....

"New rules for the use of the Daniel Boone National Forest are to be unveiled, and critics and supporters are lining up to be heard.

"The Daniel Boone National Forest, caught between environmentalists and timber interests, soon will unveil a long-term management plan that could clear the way for more commercial logging. But the much-anticipated plan will do more than lay the legal foundation for future timber cutting."
