Damaged Pulaski County marina plans to open in April
PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – It’s been more than two weeks since heavy snow caused millions of dollars in damages to marinas on Lake Cumberland.
Marina owners are now rushing to make repairs, before boaters arrive in the spring.
Lee’s Ford Marina was among those damaged, and the managers are wasting no time making repairs.
“First priority for us was to get the metal off of the boats, so that our customers could get in and assess their damage and get their insurance claims going,” J.D. Hamilton, of Lee’s Ford Marina, said. “It runs the gamut from minor damage to some major damage for folks.”
Hamilton says the marina is now making repairs, and building new docks. The marina hopes to be open April 1.
“The only positive is, we are gonna wind up with brand new docks,” Hamilton said. “So for all the pain and trouble and money, heartache, in the end we’re gonna wind up with brand new docks and we’re looking forward to a fantastic season.”
Hamilton says the marina has had a great insurance partner. He says all of the docks are now clear, and all boat owners are now able to get down to the marina and get an up-close look at their property.
